AI and coaching

Probably everyone has already heard about AI powered chatbots like ChatGPT. What do you think?

On one end I think it’s amazing and can help a ton if used properly. On the other end this “used properly” is actually a huge cornerstone topic. While it makes things very easy to find and absorb it really removes the need to dig deeper and can create a very false environment. It was already proven by some experts in certain topics that it can give completely random answers that have no connection with reality, but if you are new to the topic, it might look very reasonable, and people would tend to believe in what is shared by an AI bot. So, their reality would be even further away from the actual facts and potential conclusions. And remember the “WYSIATI”. How would the world look like?

It does seem a bit scary to me. We really should remember to keep critical thinking on.

How about human interactions and professions like coaching?

There are already a few “self-help” bots that would allow you to interact with the bot and get helpful questions/answers/insights. Would that be a valid substitution of a human being on the other side? Personally, I think that can be a helpful tool in certain scenarios, however it still will be lacking the ability of a human to observe and connect not just the words, but also body language and other non-verbal information that can introduce a path to much deeper insights. And humans need humans.

To conclude, I think AI can be a good supporting tool if used properly, and still human interaction will be needed and valued.

And how the proper usage of those tools will look like is another interesting topic for research.

So AI or not AI?
