Hello everyone!
It’s been almost a month since my last post. Time really flies!
Well, it was a very active and productive August with vacation and business trip, 10 flights within 3 weeks (and 5 of them in 3 days). I ran 10k for the first time in my life, had a record 505k steps in a month, and majority of those with kids, got on a SUP board. Finally got to St. Petersburg with kids and added Chicago and Washington DC to my list of cities.

So now it is time to get back to the routines and reality, and school for someone :) Speaking about coaching there were many insightful conversations and I have many topics in mind to share, here are some examples: sunk costs, creativity, growth/fixed mindset, performance/metrics/motivation. Let me start today with a preambular about the link between motivation – performance – metrics. On one side being in the manager seat I need to figure out how to drive the right behaviours within the team, and on the other side how to show/quantify success of the team. What I observe is that sometimes very data-driven performance metrics tend to substitute actual care for the team and business and easily start driving wrong behaviours: people focus on specific metric and forget why they are doing something, what is the bigger purpose, or very specific things get rewarded and it promotes not the best attitude.

What is the right balance? That is the topic I am going to explore this year. What do you think?
