Choices we make

With the massive layoffs last week, it really felt inappropriate to post on something regarding personal brand, even though it might be a very important topic longer term.
What I wanted to discuss today is about our choices.
When things like constant restructuring of the tech industry happen, there is constant ambiguity of the roles and their existence. When a structure changes it becomes not as much about people, rather about purely business alignment and someone may be impacted just because of that, and not because they did something wrong or did not perform well. I think it is very important to remember.
When we accept a job offer – this is our choice and we kind of accept the risk of restructuring attached to it as well, in whatever shape or form. I believe that having this in mind can help not to get into the victim mindset and can put us in the constructive position: this is business, and we are the only people in charge of ourselves and our choices, so what can we do in this situation? Who can help and what is the plan? I really hope that this thought process will not be needed, and we will be able to accept job offers with only positive thoughts in mind, however recent events dictate the need for at least a mental plan B.
What do you think? I will be offering several free 1 hour coaching sessions in March. If you know someone who was impacted and might benefit from it, please reach out.
