After vacation usually we come back with lots of energy and ideas. That was the case when we came back from Thailand. So, I had a few things in mind and based on my internal accounting calculations I had more than enough energy for that.

However, the process did not move anywhere, I kept procrastinating.

I brought it as a topic for one of the coaching sessions and what I have figured out was super insightful.

Recently I put myself into a very interesting and unusual activity, but since it is outside of professional area I did not account for any energy resources that it would require. And even though it is a positive and exciting one it still requires some effort and resource. And that was a bingo moment! When I assigned this activity a “project” status in my head, it made its way into my accounting process and the equation of energy debit and credit became true. The amount available for study became realistic and moved through the task list within the same day.

So, the problem was in this imbalance in my expectations from available resources. And as soon as this was fixed, I stopped leaking energy on procrastination and progressed in all areas quickly.

How often do you do your energy balance inventarization?
